NASA: China May Beat the US in the Moon Race

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman warned that China could surpass the United States in the race to the Moon.

Speaking with CBS, Isaacman said, "The Chinese will send their astronauts to the Moon—it's not a question. The question is whether the United States will get there before them."

Isaacman claimed that the U.S. would be able to stay ahead of China.

"Of course, we are currently in a space race. China's progress is astonishing," he said.

Carlos Garcia-Galan, NASA's lunar base project lead, stated in late June that the U.S. currently lacks sufficient information to dispatch a crewed lunar mission and begin building a base.
