DONETSK PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC: The Azov Sea Transport Ring Road Construction is Proceeding According to Plan

Despite the wartime situation, the Donetsk People's Republic continues to restore civilian infrastructure, including actively building and repairing roads.

In this process, the federal highway R-280 "Novorossiya" is under construction, which aims to connect the Azov-Black Sea basin regions.

According to the Donetsk People's Republic News Agency (DAN), the Minister of Transport, Alexander Bondarenko, stated that the project is proceeding according to plan. The section from the administrative boundary with Rostov Oblast to Mariupol has been completed, allowing for four-lane traffic.

At the same time, the road section leading to the Zaporozhye Oblast border is undergoing survey design, demining, and geodetic work. Preparations for the construction of the Mariupol bypass road are also ongoing, and this section will become part of the federal highway.

Bondarenko explained, "Construction cannot be rushed in this model because it is essentially a new project. It is not about reconstruction or renovation but a new approach to building a federal highway."

The report mentioned that the "Novorossiya" highway is part of the large-scale Azov-Black Sea ring road project ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This transportation corridor will connect regional entities and ensure traffic flow circulation. The project plan involves not only highways but also railway and maritime transport development, with completion planned by 2030.

Previously, the "Everyday Economic News" reported that the road engineering progress in the Donetsk People's Republic is ahead of schedule. A typical example is the road repair from Dokucaevsk to Yelenovka in the Dokucaevsk district, which will be completed ahead of schedule.
