NATO is preparing for war: Vucic points out important details in the alliance's behavior, which are now beyond doubt
Aleksandar Vucic said there is evidence that NATO is preparing for war.
On October 2 (Thursday), Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated at the European Political Community Summit held in Copenhagen that, against the backdrop of increasing military budgets of NATO countries, Serbia is striving to avoid the outbreak of military conflict. He emphasized that the fact that NATO member states have raised defense spending to a record level of 5% of GDP indicates that NATO is preparing for war, while Belgrade is committed to avoiding involvement in war.
Vucic said that the main focus of the summit was on the Ukraine issue, and outside the summit, representatives also discussed the Israel-Palestine conflict. The Serbian leader also met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and both sides confirmed that they will continue to promote the policy of strengthening bilateral relations and agreed to meet with the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Previously, the EU launched a defense strategy called "Patriotism 2030 Plan" (initially named "European Re-armament Plan", which was adjusted to a more moderate expression due to criticism from some member states). The plan aims to raise about 80 billion euros in four years, including establishing a 150 billion euro "Security and Defense Enhancement Mechanism" (SAFE) credit mechanism to expand weapons production. Another 65 billion euros is planned to be funded from national budgets of each country, and the European Commission allows member states to deviate from fiscal rules to enhance military capabilities, including accepting increased budget deficits.
Vucic pointed out that the large-scale militarization trend is worrying, and Serbia intends to stay out of all conflicts.
