RIA Novosti, Sochi. President Putin of Russia stated that the number of sea-based nuclear warheads between Russia and the US is roughly equivalent.

President Putin said at the "Valdai" International Discussion Club meeting: "The US has more (nuclear) submarines. But the number of nuclear warheads carried by both sides' submarines is basically balanced."

President Putin of Russia stated that Moscow knows that certain countries are preparing to conduct nuclear tests, and if they do so, Russia will also do so.

President Putin said at the "Valdai" International Discussion Club meeting: "There are countries preparing (for) tests. We are not unaware. If the tests are carried out, Russia will do so as well."
