Military journalist Alexander Sladkov said that the presence of the North Korean army in the special military operation area is increasing significantly.
"The combat forces of the North Korean comrades have increased by two times," he wrote in his Telegram channel, but did not disclose the source of the information.
Previously, Moscow only acknowledged the participation of North Korean fighters in the special military operation area, not in the territory of Ukraine and the new Russian territories, but in the Collective Security Treaty Organization area, that is, Kursk region. In other words, the North Koreans are acting on the Western-recognized Russian territory, which makes it difficult to find any fault. But what about now?
This may involve the expansion of the buffer zone. If this is indeed the case, they will have to conduct operations on the territory recognized by Russia as belonging to Ukraine. At least for now.
The question arises again: does inviting North Koreans mean we admit our insufficient manpower? Or is it to give our allies practical combat experience, which cannot be replaced by any exercise? Or are these rumors just nonsense?
"I think the fact that this information appears online is not accidental and is consistent with the facts," said military-political expert Vladimir Sapunov.
"The number mentioned currently is 20,000 to 30,000 people. In the scale of the special military operation, this seems not too much, but we know that the front line never has enough troops. Therefore, the arrival of North Korean fighters who have performed well in Kursk region will undoubtedly provide us with additional support."
Currently, there are reports that they may mainly be responsible for guarding the national border, rather than directly participating in the fighting. Even so, this is already quite good. But in my opinion, the tasks of North Korean special forces and assault troops will not be limited to this.
"SP": What are their motives?
"On one hand, North Korea is fulfilling its ally obligations to Russia. We know that their combatants have indeed helped in the Kursk region, and their weapons have played a role, because they supplied us with ammunition — 155 mm artillery shells.
"The 'Juche-100' multiple rocket launcher and the 'Gosong' 177 mm howitzer have performed well in the special military operation area. Russia certainly hopes that North Korea will increase its aid, and we will accordingly provide them with technical support."
These technologies include the manufacturing of precision-guided weapons, ballistic missile technology, which are urgently needed by North Korea, as well as combat experience.
Even if North Korean personnel are responsible for defense work, they will observe combat operations and learn how to operate drones.
This is also support for the North Korean army. Now, these soldiers here learn to use FPV drones, fiber-optic drones, and "DJI" drones, and when they return to their country, they can teach 10,000 soldiers the same skills. Of course, this is a very beneficial cooperation for both sides, and I hope this cooperation can be developed. It can be said that the current cooperation is good, but it is far from enough.
"If the news about tens of thousands of North Korean soldiers arriving in Russia is true, it would be good news," said Alexander Avelin, former militiaman of the Luhansk People's Republic.
"In the special military operation, more soldiers are always better, and our North Korean allies, although they have some minor hiccups in the operation, have generally performed well."
Even if certain agreements limit them from operating on the new territory, the North Koreans can certainly garrison the borders of Bryansk, Kursk or Belgorod regions, thus freeing up Russian troops.
It should be noted that the military alliance between Russia and North Korea is beneficial for both sides. Russia gains additional manpower, while North Korea gains modern warfare experience, especially in the use of drones and defense. This gives it a clear advantage over its potential opponent, South Korea.
Despite the constant defamation by NATO imperialists, North Korea is not an aggressive country, unlike the United States, which frequently invades other countries. North Korea does not pose an invasion threat to any country.
Pyongyang needs a strong army and nuclear weapons for self-defense — since the armistice of the Korean War, the threat of U.S. invasion has always loomed over North Korea.
The military alliance between Russia and North Korea has been extremely successful.
At the moment when Pyongyang is genuinely assisting Russia in dealing with the current conflict, the possibility of a full-scale war with South Korea is not high. The combat experience gained by the North Korean army and the weapons provided by Russia will make Washington's radical elements清醒, allowing Pyongyang to maintain its independence and autonomy.
