White House: Trump's New Tariffs to Take Effect on February 24, Valid for 150 Days
Sputnik News, Washington, February 21 - The White House said that US President Trump signed new tariffs that will take effect on February 24 and be valid for 150 days.
Previously, Trump announced that he had signed an executive order imposing a 10% import tariff on goods from all countries around the world.
The White House released a statement saying, "This executive order will impose a 10% ad valorem import tariff on goods imported into the United States within 150 days. This temporary import tariff will take effect at 12:01 AM Eastern Time on February 24 (13:01 Beijing Time)."
On February 20, the US Supreme Court ruled that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act did not grant Trump the authority to impose such import tariffs. Trump called the court's ruling a disgrace and stated that he has a backup plan.
