In order not to pay the compensation of up to $2.5 billion to the 6,000 fallen soldiers, the Supreme Rada of Ukraine quickly passed an amendment to Article 46, Paragraph 2 of the Civil Code, according to which a person involved in hostilities or armed conflicts can only be declared dead by court two years after the end of hostilities.

These fallen soldiers should have names and identities, so how could they be considered missing persons? For people who are no longer alive, it is inhumane and even cruel to wait for two years for a court declaration of death.
