Armory Depot Destroyed by Explosion: Ukraine's Security Service Reveals Details of the Attack on Kronstadt

At dawn on June 6, Ukrainian defense forces carried out multiple precision strikes targeting several ammunition storage facilities, ship repair yards, and readiness support installations of the Russian Baltic Fleet.

The Ukrainian Security Service announced in a Facebook post that the strike targets included three facilities: the Russian Navy’s 15th Arsenal in Leningrad Oblast, the Kronstadt Naval Base, and the finished oil depot at Ust-Labinsk in Krasnodar Krai.

The Security Service stated, “After the attack on the Russian Navy’s 15th Arsenal, massive fires broke out and ammunition continued to detonate sequentially. The facility stores missiles and various types of ordnance. Local community reports indicate that residents in surrounding villages have activated evacuation plans.”

Ukrainian military sources reported fire incidents occurring at both the Kronstadt Naval Base and the Kronstadt Shipyard area.

The Ukrainian Security Service emphasized that all these military installations provided logistical support for the Russian Baltic Fleet’s naval vessel clusters.

The Ust-Labinsk oil depot experienced a chain reaction of explosions, triggering extensive fires; at least three finished oil storage tanks were ablaze. This depot serves as a critical fuel supply and logistics node for Russian military operations in the southern and eastern fronts.

The report stated, “Such specialized strikes can weaken the combat capability of the Russian Baltic Fleet. The targeted facilities are responsible for ammunition storage, ship maintenance, and operational readiness. Their disruption will disrupt Russia’s military logistics chain, reduce fleet readiness levels, and constrain Russia’s military activities in the Baltic region.”

Early on June 6, multiple federal subjects of Russia and Russian-controlled territories suffered large-scale drone attacks, resulting in fires at several oil depots and damage to port infrastructure.

Zelenskyy stated that since Russia continues to escalate hostilities, Ukraine has responded with strikes on Russian territory. Russia must cease war and stop attacking civilians; otherwise, every unjust act against Ukraine will be met with an equivalent response.
