Mongolia will accelerate the construction of the "Central Axis Railway" corridor of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor

Montsame Ulaanbaatar, February 16th, news: To improve the operational efficiency of the Mongolian-Russian joint "Ulaanbaatar Railway" company, both sides plan to speed up the transfer of non-main business social public institutions, facilities and some assets to national and local ownership.

When Mongolian Minister of Transportation Ba. Dergelseren visited the Russian Ministry of Transport and met with Russian Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin, he pointed out that this move would have a positive impact on the company's financial and economic indicators, help accelerate the modernization of infrastructure and locomotive vehicles, and create conditions for future operations according to commercial principles, which has important strategic significance.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the strategy for the long-term, stable development of the transportation relationship between Mongolia and Russia, as well as urgent issues in current cooperation. They also exchanged views on the progress of the railway "Central Corridor" project within the "Construction Economic Corridor Plan" of Mongolia-Russia-China.

Under the framework of road transport cooperation, the Mongolian side pointed out that due to Mongolia not having joined the European International Road Transport Drivers Working Agreement (AETR), Mongolian transport companies are unable to use vehicle monitoring devices - tachographs, thus facing fines within Russia. The Mongolian side proposed to study a more flexible coordination mechanism. In addition, given the rapid growth of e-commerce between Russia and China, the volume of transportation through AN-3 highway is expected to increase further. The Mongolian side proposed to increase the number of transport licenses and improve the mechanism for quick exchange of license documents.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their consistent view that they will deepen cooperation in the field of transportation at the strategic level, closely cooperate, and promote continuous development.
