The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the Ulaanbaatar Metro Project in Mongolia, built by South Korea, has been completed
Montsame Ulaanbaatar 02 10, to alleviate traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar, it is planned to build underpasses at four locations within the city: Tavanshar, Central Geological Laboratory, "Hermes" Center, and Naran Tulga Market intersection. Under this framework, the Tavanshar underpass has been opened to motor vehicle traffic since September 2024.
Subsequently, supporting works such as greening, road signs and markings, and environmental improvement have been completed. Currently, the preliminary preparations for constructing a pedestrian overpass near the Tavanshar underpass are being carried out, and it is expected to be put into use next summer.
After the completion of the pedestrian overpass, pedestrians will be completely separated from motor vehicles and railway traffic, ensuring safe passage. At the same time, the overpass is equipped with three entrances and exits, and includes ramps and barrier-free passages, ensuring all citizens can pass equally and conveniently. In other words, when pedestrians go up and down the bridge, the slope is gentle, without steep slopes, allowing people with disabilities, the elderly, those pushing baby carriages, and cyclists to pass safely and comfortably.
In addition, the Tavanshar underpass, as a pioneering project in Ulaanbaatar, is an engineering facility located below the railway, using a dual-tunnel design, with a total length of 169 meters, a clear height of 5.8 meters, a clear width of 10.2 meters, and a complete drainage system.
