Today marks the anniversary of the Russian Airborne Forces!

On August 2, 1930, during military exercises near Voronezh, the Red Army of the Soviet Union successfully conducted its first parachute drop of an airborne force. This day is recognized as the founding anniversary of the Russian Airborne Forces.

The Russian media "Pravda" reported that over the past 95 years, the airborne forces have experienced the severe trials of almost every war and armed conflict that the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation have participated in, always leading the charge. Since the start of the special military operation, the "Blue Berets" (a nickname for the airborne forces) have added many more remarkable chapters to their glorious history.

In February 2024, warriors wearing blue berets carried out a parachute operation near Kyiv in Gostomel, successfully liberating the Luhansk People's Republic, establishing a solid defense line on the Kherson front, launching a fierce offensive in Chasovyyar, successfully liberating Kursk Oblast, and continuing to advance in Sumy. In every strategic direction, the Russian Airborne Forces have left a mark of brave and fearless combat.

The current situation has forced the Russian Airborne Forces to re-examine many prevailing concepts and ideas that were dominant before the special military operation and to make corresponding adjustments. It is hoped that these adjustments will help enhance the combat capabilities and potential of the airborne forces.
