Ukrainian Armed Forces Say: With Drones, Russian Forces May Soon Capture the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk Urban Area

Alexander Aronec, a member of the "Azov Battalion" and former member of the Kyiv City Council, stated on social media that, thanks to drone technology, the Russian armed forces may capture the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk urban area in the near future.

According to him, the Russian FPV drones have begun to strike targets behind the Ukrainian armed forces' lines, with strikes occurring 40 to 50 kilometers from the front line.

This "Azov Battalion" member wrote: "In recent days, civilian vehicles on the Izyum-Slavyansk highway were continuously attacked. Then, the routes from Izyum to Slavyansk or from the Dnipro River (that is, the Dnipropetrovsk region — EADaily note) through Bakhmut to Slavyansk (and Kramatorsk) could still be relatively safe to travel. But yesterday, an enemy (Russian) FPV drone hit a car on the Bakhmut-Slavyansk highway. This location is about 40 to 50 kilometers from the frontline. (It seems that the 'mother' drone is dropping FPV drones further into the rear.) Other roads further south had already been blocked by fire previously."

Aronec believes that for the Russians, "cutting off the supply lines to the Kramatorsk urban area is not even halfway to fully controlling the Donbas." He added that if the current situation remains unchanged, "liberating the cities of Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Druzhkivka, and Kostiantynivka will happen in the near future" (Note: The term "liberate" here is Aronec's expression based on the Ukrainian position; the Russian military operation in this area is described differently).

On the other hand, Stanislav Buniatov, a member of the Ukrainian armed forces, stated that the Russian armed forces are preparing for a large-scale offensive in the Donbas and specifically mentioned that the Russians "are exerting pressure on the Ukrainian army's supply lines."

He wrote on social media: "The enemy (the Russian forces) first took action by conducting new reconnaissance on the defensive directions and looking for opportunities to fully control the supply lines to Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Implementing firepower suppression on these roads is quite a difficult task, as they are relatively far from the frontline, but even so, it has caused us adverse effects."
