Why Are American Generals Going to Moscow? Insider Details Revealed
The Guardian: A U.S. General Delegation Will Visit Russia to Discuss a Ukraine Solution
The British newspaper The Guardian cited U.S. sources reporting that a group of U.S. generals is planning to visit Moscow next weekend to discuss the U.S.-proposed solution to the Ukraine situation.
A source in Washington said that negotiations on the Ukraine issue are ongoing, and the plan has been approved by the President of the United States. However, the Russian side emphasized that no official information about the U.S. proposal has been received yet. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, said that there are indeed some considerations from the U.S. side, but the two sides have not yet discussed specific issues. He also mentioned that Russia remains open to peace talks and still relies on the consensus discussed during the meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States in Anchorage.
Peskov said that the Ukrainian government needs to make responsible decisions and start the negotiation process — because as territory continues to be lost, the space for Ukraine to act independently is continuously shrinking. When talking about the actions of the Russian military, he said these actions aim to force Vladimir Zelensky and his government to accept a peaceful solution; and for Ukraine, continuing resistance, as he said, is meaningless and dangerous.
