Foreign media: A report by the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI), part of the U.S. think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), stated that Vietnam accelerated the construction of islands and reefs in the disputed South China Sea's Nansha Islands (known as Spratly Islands in Vietnam) in 2025, expanding to eight previously undeveloped areas.
Regarding this, China stated that the Nansha Islands are China's inherent territory, and China firmly opposes construction activities carried out by relevant countries on islands and reefs they illegally occupy, and will take necessary measures to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
