Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with Sputnik News Agency that the date for the UN Security Council's vote on the resolution put forward by Russia and China aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East will be determined based on the evolving local situation.

Previously, Russia and China had proposed that the UN Security Council consider an alternative draft resolution regarding the current situation in the Middle East, which includes considerations from a maritime security perspective.

Logvinov stated: "At the aforementioned meeting, we jointly announced with our Chinese partners an alternative Security Council draft resolution supporting de-escalation and seeking a negotiated solution. The voting date will be determined according to the local situation."

The diplomat expressed hope that other members of the Security Council would support the initiative by Russia and China.

According to reporters from Sputnik News Agency, on Tuesday, Russia and China vetoed a draft resolution by the UN Security Council concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasiliy Nebenzya stated that Russia could not support a text that would set a dangerous precedent for international law.
