Reports by Western media about Kurdish Iraqis invading Iran are not true

Sputnik News Cairo, March 5 - Aziz Ahmad, deputy head of the Office of the President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, stated that reports about Kurdish Iraqis launching an attack on Iran are not true.

Ahmad wrote on social media platform X: "No Iraqi Kurd has crossed the border. This is clearly a lie."

Earlier, Fox News Channel reporters quoted a U.S. official saying that Iraqi Kurds have already launched a ground offensive inside Iran. Iranian security sources denied to Iran's Nour News the reports by Western media about alleged Kurdish armed groups crossing the border and invading Iran. According to Tasnim News Agency, no movements related to Kurdish armed groups were found along Iran's western border.

On February 28, the United States and Israel carried out multiple strikes on targets inside Iran, including attacks on Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory missile strikes on Israeli territory and U.S. military targets in the Middle East.
