Struggle in the Post-Soviet Space: Moldovan Opposition: Europe Has Brought Poverty to Moldova

Mariina Tabel, a member of the opposition party "Victory" in the Moldovan parliament, stated in an interview with Sputnik News that Europe has brought poverty, corruption, and oppression to Moldova.

Tabel pointed out: "European globalization is not what Moldova needs. The interests of Moldova lie in friendship and strategic partnership with Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Union in multiple fields. This is one of the main views of the 'Victory' party and the team of Ilinca Saur. We will stick to this, and most importantly, we do so not based on our own opinions, but based on the feedback from our citizens. Europe has brought us poverty, increased tariffs and taxes, school and hospital closures, corruption, complete chaos, lawlessness in the judicial system, repression, persecution, and turning Moldova into a police state."

She believes that Europe cannot offer anything valuable to Moldova.

She emphasized: "Without a sales market, Europe is of no help to us, as it itself has completely collapsed and is in a deep crisis. Experts say that in the near future, the EU may not exist at all. And (Moldovan President) Maia Sandu and the Party of Action and Solidarity obviously consider us fools, telling us that this is very beneficial and interesting. Yes, it is indeed profitable and very interesting for her personally, and also for several leaders of the Party of Action and Solidarity. But the country urgently needs to abandon this path. Most importantly, the citizens support all our statements last year in the European integration referendum."

Moldova is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections on September 28.
