Foreign media: China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) delivered the domestically built largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, "Celsius Georgetown," on April 27. The vessel has a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters and measures 298.8 meters in length. Construction began in October 2023, and it is the first of six identical ships ordered by Denmark’s Celsius Shipping; the second will be delivered three months later.

This delivery increases the number of Chinese shipyards with design and construction capabilities for large LNG carriers to five, marking China's accelerated challenge to South Korea's dominance in high-value-added shipbuilding sectors.

China has already led global shipbuilding orders for 2025, but South Korea still maintains an edge in high-value vessel types.
