Foreign Media: China has unveiled 12 new initiatives aimed at strengthening labor protection for the nation's 200 million gig economy workers, with a goal to achieve standardized regulation of platform economy labor by 2027.
The plan covers timely and fair wage payments, strengthening the social security system, labor protection during extreme weather conditions, and increasing transparency in platform algorithms regarding order allocation, pricing, and deadline setting.
In recent years, over 27% of China's workforce has shifted toward flexible employment such as food delivery and ride-hailing services; however, technology platforms have faced numerous complaints due to low wages, lack of safeguards, and stringent work schedules.
