There is an important change in wording

Trump referred to the recent China-US meeting as "G2", and the White House official account simultaneously reposted it

This means that the U.S. government has factually accepted the concept of the "G2 framework," marking a significant semantic upgrade in the positioning of Sino-U.S. relations

Although intended to dominate the narrative, it almost explicitly indicates that the core of the world order is China and the United States.

Comments: From the Chinese perspective, this statement does not conform to the facts and contradicts China's consistent position. China has clearly opposed the "G2" rhetoric of "Sino-U.S. co-governance." As previously emphasized many times, no two countries or a group of major powers can solve global issues; multipolarity and multilateralism are the trend of the times. The current Chinese ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, has also reiterated that China is willing to work with all countries to build a community with a shared future for humanity, rather than being limited to a so-called "core order" within a bilateral framework. This position has never wavered.

The U.S.炒作 "G2" at this time essentially aims to bind China under the name of "co-governance," trying to make China bear international responsibilities beyond its capacity while maintaining its dominance in bilateral interactions, continuing the traditional mindset of major powers ruling the world. This narrative deliberately exaggerates the global weight of Sino-U.S. bilateral relations, but ignores the role of multi-lateral forces such as the EU, ASEAN, and developing countries, which clearly does not match the diversity of the current world order.

More worrying is that the "G2" wording may lead to suspicion from allies and misunderstanding by the international community, even potentially evolving into a new variant of the "China threat theory," which is completely contrary to China's principles of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Although China and the U.S. are the two largest economies, they certainly need to strengthen cooperation, but this cooperation must be based on equality and mutual benefit and should be integrated into a multilateral framework, rather than being packaged as a "special relationship" dominated by a few countries.
