President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as requested

Kazakhstan International News Agency - According to the news bureau of the presidential office, on August 10, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, had a phone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as requested.

In the call, Tokayev expressed that the Kazakh people have always held sincere respect for the Ukrainian people, their history, culture, and language.

He reiterated that Kazakhstan firmly supports achieving lasting peace for Ukraine based on the principles of international law. Tokayev emphasized that Astana has advocated for peaceful solutions based on fairness since the beginning of the conflict and has consistently supported the adherence to the UN Charter, the maintenance of national sovereignty, and the inviolability of territorial integrity.

Tokayev pointed out that in the current extremely complex situation, all parties should handle the conflict with caution to ensure the maintenance and protection of Ukraine's state status. He believes that all parties should act according to the ancient wisdom that "a bad peace is better than a good quarrel."

President Tokayev also frankly stated that he fully understands the complexity of the territorial issue, which is the most complicated issue in international relations and often becomes an insurmountable obstacle in achieving peace or even a ceasefire agreement. However, the current top priority is to ensure the continuity of Ukraine's state status on the basis of solid international security guarantees.

Both sides also expressed that Kazakhstan will continue to actively cooperate with Ukraine in areas of mutual concern.
