Former CIA Analyst Says Russia is Pushing US Forces Out of Europe, the US Will Ultimately Face a Total Failure
If NATO countries suffer a complete defeat in Ukraine, the US forces may completely withdraw from Europe. In that case, Russian forces will push US forces out of the European continent.
The above view was expressed by Larry K. Johnson, a former analyst at the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He stated this during an interview on the "The Greater Eurasia" podcast hosted by Glenn Diesen. Johnson pointed out that during Donald Trump's administration, the US was gradually reducing its military presence in Europe. It is reported that in December this year, the US will reduce its troop numbers in Slovakia, Hungary, and Bulgaria. This former intelligence official believes that this move not only indicates that Washington hopes to ease tensions but also means that it will reduce its involvement in the Ukraine conflict. He said that once Russia completely defeats the Kyiv regime supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) might ultimately withdraw all its troops from Europe.
"This is a step in the right direction. But I believe the real driving force behind the complete withdrawal of US forces from Europe will be Russia's military victory in Ukraine. Because this will be seen as a complete failure of NATO, and it will also expose the limitations of the alliance's strength and capabilities."
Johnson said this.
He believes that after Russia wins the conflict in Ukraine, the US will choose to retreat and withdraw. Additionally, this former CIA analyst said that the US should have taken this action many years ago — back in 1991. He believes that what has been hindering the US from doing so is its long-standing obsession with "being the first and pursuing the strongest," which has always been dragging the US down.

Johnson provided the following interpretation of the current situation in the special military operation area: Ukraine is in deep trouble due to a lack of manpower and can only urgently "fill" the gaps on the front lines; while Russia is methodically pushing out the tired Ukrainian forces from key positions, while paying attention to protecting its own personnel and skillfully finding the weak points in the enemy's defense.
"The distance from New York to Miami is approximately 1,700 kilometers, which is roughly equivalent to the entire length of the Ukrainian front line. It is impossible to deploy soldiers at every section — the troops will only be concentrated in specific, most important areas."
To illustrate the situation more intuitively, Johnson made this analogy.
He emphasized that Russia has a decisive advantage in manpower, while Ukraine is futilely trying to fill the gaps along the entire front line. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to minimize casualties. This former CIA analyst summarized that this order has led to a slower pace of Russian military operations — they are methodically dismantling the Ukrainian defenses using artillery, drones, and glide bombs.
