Foreign media: Chinese airlines will add nearly 2,900 flights between China and Europe this summer, with Air China adding 1,120 flights, Southern Airlines 839, Eastern Airlines 654, and Hainan Airlines also having plans to increase flights.

This expansion is made possible because Chinese airlines can still use Russian airspace, while Western carriers are banned from flying over Russian territory due to sanctions and must detour around the Middle East conflict zone, resulting in longer routes and higher costs.

Following the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the current Iran-US tensions triggering instability in the Middle East, Chinese airlines have gained a significant competitive advantage on Asia-Europe routes, enabling them to offer faster and more cost-effective direct services.
