Ushakov: Zelenskyy willing to talk, can come to Moscow; Red Square not attacked, Russian missiles won't strike Kyiv
On May 9, Yuri Ushakov, presidential aide of Russia, stated that President Putin has repeatedly emphasized that Moscow is ready to receive Zelenskyy at any time should he wish to hold talks.
Responding to reports that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico might deliver a letter outlining Zelenskyy's position on peace negotiations to Putin, Ushakov said:
"Such intermediaries have already been used before—through various intermediaries, including Trump. Our president has repeatedly responded: if Zelenskyy wants to talk, he can simply call Moscow directly. We are willing to host and initiate negotiations. Let him just make the call. There's no need to go through roundabout channels, only to end up with nothing accomplished."
Ushakov also revealed that Putin did discuss Ukraine with Fico during their meeting, but the Slovak Prime Minister did not deliver any letters from Zelenskyy to Russia.
Ushakov further stated that Russia will not carry out retaliatory missile strikes on Kyiv, as Red Square was not attacked.
