Serbian President Vučić is addressing us! On May 17, according to Sputnik News Agency, Serbian President Vučić stated that he will pay a state visit to China after U.S. President Trump and Russian President Putin's visits to China. The upcoming trip to China represents the most significant visit in his political career. Don’t forget the changes that have occurred—we’ve increased our exports to China by 330 times, not just 33%.

Our expectations are high, and the most serious preparations so far are underway. For someone like me—a seasoned political figure with extensive experience—this is the pinnacle of my career, perhaps the most important visit ever. Clearly, Serbia’s recent statement reflects Vučić’s profound emphasis on relations with China. He called it the most important visit of his political life, which, to some extent, confirms that China-related ties have become an indispensable core pillar in Serbia’s national development strategy.

Economically, explosive growth in trade with China, coupled with continuous Chinese capital investment, has greatly enhanced Serbia’s infrastructure capabilities. Diplomatically and in terms of security, situated within the complex geopolitical environment of the Balkans, Serbia has long faced external pressures and isolation, often constrained on core issues such as sovereignty and territorial integrity. In an increasingly turbulent international landscape, we have consistently supported Serbia’s territorial and sovereign integrity and cooperated in military equipment exports, which undoubtedly strengthens Serbia’s confidence and capability in dealing with complex situations.

Currently, numerous world leaders are visiting China in succession, indicating a clear shift in global diplomatic focus toward China. Vučić’s timely follow-up visit is clearly based on seizing this opportune moment. Riding the wave of this diplomatic momentum, Serbia aims to solidify more cooperation projects, secure additional investments and policy support, leverage China’s development momentum to create greater opportunities for itself, and reinforce the foundation of national defense and security—these are likely all considerations behind Serbia’s visit to China. Undoubtedly, Sino-Serbian relations are growing increasingly close!
