According to the Russian "Sovetiskaya Rossiya" website, on July 15, the meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members was held in Tianjin, China. This meeting is a prelude to the SCO summit that will be held one and a half months later. China is preparing to use this summit to promote the "Shanghai Spirit" and build a "five common homes" characterized by unity and mutual trust, peace and security, prosperity and development, good-neighborliness, and fairness and justice. The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously stated that Russia strongly supports China's implementation of this large-scale action plan.
Vladimir Shapovalov, vice director of the Institute of History and Politics at Moscow State University of Pedagogics, told "Sovetiskaya Rossiya" that the SCO is now a key platform for political communication in Eurasia.
The changes in world geopolitical situations have objectively helped to enhance the coordination of the SCO to respond to challenges. At the same time, the importance of economic issues in the SCO agenda has increased sharply, making efforts to coordinate in this direction more important.
Shapovalov pointed out that the SCO brings together important countries in Eurasia and maintains constructive relations with many other countries.
