Kremlin: Washington hopes to see Moscow and Kyiv engage in dialogue

Russian President's press secretary Peskov told reporters that Washington hopes to see Moscow and Kyiv engage in dialogue.

Peskov said, "Our side is willing to continue (with the Kyiv - note) dialogue. Washington hopes to see this dialogue, and Europe seems to hope for such a dialogue as well."

Russia and Ukraine held two rounds of direct negotiations in Istanbul. The results of the negotiations included the exchange of prisoners of war. Russia also handed over the remains of fallen soldiers to the Kyiv regime. In addition, both sides exchanged draft memorandums on resolving the conflict. Despite repeated statements by Turkey and Russia about their willingness to hold talks, the date for the third round of negotiations has not yet been determined.

Peskov said that Trump's latest statement is extremely serious, and the Kremlin needs time to analyze it.

The Russian President's press secretary emphasized that if Putin deems it necessary, he will comment on the U.S. president's statement.

Peskov once again reminded that Moscow is still prepared to hold a third round of negotiations with Kyiv, but so far no proposal for talks has been received.
