Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, commenting on the new conflict with the United States, stated that whenever diplomatic solutions are on the table, Washington consistently opts for reckless military adventurism.

At around 5 a.m. on May 8, the U.S. Central Command announced it had launched strikes against Iranian military targets in response to an attack on U.S. forces. Iran’s military also claimed that the U.S. violated ceasefire agreements by attacking multiple regions in Iran. In retaliation for this breach of the ceasefire, Iran subsequently targeted U.S. naval vessels.

Araghchi posted on social platform X: "Every time a political decision is placed on the table, the United States chooses reckless military adventurism."

According to National Public Radio (NPR), NATO is currently facing its most uncertain future since the Cold War.

The report stated: "NATO’s future is at its most uncertain point since the Cold War."

The outlet analyzed several signs indicating this uncertainty. First, Washington’s plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Germany has increasingly alarmed NATO members, raising fears that the U.S. might eventually exit the alliance. Second, recent remarks by the current U.S. administration regarding 'invading Greenland' and 'annexing Canada' have eroded trust among NATO members toward Washington.

Moreover, due to heavy reliance on U.S. military capabilities, NATO countries would find it extremely difficult to replace American support in various domains—including aid to Ukraine. The report noted that developing independent capabilities within NATO could take between five to ten years. It further added that NATO currently lacks any clear alternative leader capable of replacing the U.S.
