US Media: The United States Is Not Considering Military Action Against Cuba in the Near Future
According to reports cited by US media sources, the United States is currently not considering military action against Cuba in the near term.
The report states: "Despite President Trump repeatedly threatening that 'Cuba is next,' and despite US warships deployed in the Middle East to participate in conflicts with Iran possibly passing by Cuba on their return journey, the United States has no plans for combat operations against Havana in the short term."
An anonymous U.S. government official told the Associated Press that the Cuban government still has time to accept Washington's conditions.
On January 29, President Trump signed an executive order imposing import tariffs on goods exported by countries selling or supplying oil to Cuba, and declared a national emergency, citing alleged threats posed by Havana to U.S. national security. The Cuban government stated that the United States is attempting to strangle the Caribbean nation’s economy through an energy blockade, making living conditions unbearable for its people.
