German Chancellor Merkel says there is no justification for the U.S. to conduct military intervention in Cuba

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz opposes any potential military action by the United States against Cuba, stating that there is no valid reason for intervention.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had indicated that after resolving all issues with Iran, the U.S. might "pay a visit" to Cuba.

At a press conference held in Hanover, Merz said: "There is no clear rationale for invading Cuba. Although Cuba faces numerous domestic political challenges under its communist regime, it does not pose any visible threat to third countries beyond its borders."

He emphasized that ideological differences in political systems are not a justification for military intervention.

Merz stated: "The existence of defense forces does not imply the right to militarily intervene in other nations, even if their political systems do not align with those of other countries."

At the same time, he expressed skepticism about whether the U.S. would actually decide to take military action against Cuba.

Merz concluded: "I believe the U.S. currently lacks a legitimate pretext for launching such an operation."

Earlier, the Pentagon commented on media reports suggesting preparations for military action against Cuba, stating it was planning a "series of operations" ready to execute the orders of President Trump.
