Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Responds to Merkel's Remarks on Fico: Without the Soviet Union, There Would Be No Europe Day
Responding to German Chancellor Merkel's statement that she would have a conversation with Slovak Prime Minister Fico regarding his decision to celebrate Victory Day in Moscow instead of Europe Day, Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharcheva stated, "Without the victory of the Soviet people, there would be no Europe Day."
Merkel had previously said at a press conference that Fico could expect a discussion about his trip to Moscow to celebrate Victory Day.
Zakharcheva told TASS: "Without the victory of the Soviet people, there would be no Europe Day at all. Instead, there would be an entire region filled with gas chambers."
