Two 16-year-old girls from Hokkaido arrested for setting up a "xianren tiao" (trap) robbery

According to a report from the "Hokkaido Shimbun" on February 4: The suspects are two 16-year-old girls living in Asahikawa City and the Ishikari area of Hokkaido, and a 23-year-old fisherman living in Shimane Prefecture.

The police stated that the three conspired to rob a 46-year-old man from Kushiro City of 26,000 yen (about 1,100 Chinese yuan), a mobile phone, wallet, and a light vehicle around 2 a.m. on November 3, 2025, in the third block of Kusatsu in Kushiro City, with a total value of 135,000 yen (about 6,000 Chinese yuan).

The victim met one of the girls through a dating app and arranged to meet at the school where the incident occurred, only to be ambushed by the three in a "xianren tiao" trap.

After the incident, the light vehicle was found abandoned near the scene. The police confirmed the identities of the three through surveillance footage and matching the account names on the dating app.

The two girls were arrested on January 22 and 25, and the man from Shimane Prefecture was arrested on February 2.

The three admitted to the charges, and one of the girls said, "I wanted money."
