BBC reported that on October 19, French Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed on social media that a robbery occurred at the Louvre Museum, with no casualties. The incident happened as the museum opened in the early morning today.

She said she was on site and the investigation is ongoing.

The Louvre Museum issued a statement on its official X account, stating that "the museum is closed today for special reasons."

A police source told AFP that an unknown number of masked thieves, carrying small chain saws, used the freight elevator to enter their target exhibition hall.

French newspaper Parisien reported that the criminals entered the Louvre from the side facing the Seine River, an area under construction.

The newspaper pointed out that the thieves directly entered the target exhibition hall located in the Apollo Gallery.

The report stated that they broke the windows and stole nine items from the "Napoleon and Empress Jewelry Collection".

However, there is currently no official information confirming whether any collections were stolen from the museum or what specific items were taken.
