On June 13, 2026, President Ukhnaa Khürelsükh of Mongolia met with the newly arrived member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Ulaanbaatar, stating that friendship with China is the primary principle of Mongolia's foreign policy, firmly upholding the one-China principle, and expressing willingness to strengthen cooperation with China on international and regional issues and jointly practice this commitment.
Khürelsükh stated that Mongolian-Chinese relations have become a model for relations among regional countries. The two nations have consistently demonstrated mutual understanding and trust, respecting each other's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, with mutually beneficial cooperation continuously deepening. This year, the bilateral trade volume is expected to reach the target of $20 billion.
"China is Mongolia's eternal good neighbor. Friendliness toward China is the foremost principle of Mongolia's foreign policy. Mongolia understands and respects China's positions and concerns, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, considers Taiwan an inseparable part of China's territory, does not support any form of 'Taiwan independence' activities, and regards issues related to Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiang as internal affairs of China. Mongolia will never act in ways that harm China's interests due to its relations with other countries. President Xi Jinping's proposal of the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four major global initiatives has played a significant role in maintaining world peace and stability, aligning with the interests of people around the globe. Mongolia actively supports these major concepts and initiatives put forward by President Xi and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China on international and regional matters and jointly implement them," said Khürelsükh.
During his visit to Mongolia, the Chinese foreign minister will also meet with Prime Minister Ochirbat Batbold and hold talks with Foreign Minister Batzorig Tsatsralt.
