Foreign Ministers of China and Mongolia Hold Formal Talks
Mongolnews Agency, Ulaanbaatar, June 13 — According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry's Information Office, Mongolia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, B. Batzorig, held formal talks today with China's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The two sides unanimously agreed that in recent years, bilateral relations and cooperation have continued to develop rapidly under the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership, with growing political mutual trust and deepening and expanding cooperation across all fields.
Minister B. Batzorig stated that developing friendly and extensive cooperative relations with China is one of Mongolia’s top foreign policy priorities. In the current complex and ever-changing international landscape, further consolidating bilateral ties and jointly working to maintain regional security and sustainable development is particularly important.
The two sides conducted a comprehensive assessment of the current state of Mongolian-Chinese relations and cooperation, exchanging views on future directions, maintaining a high frequency of high-level and senior-level visits, and deepening political mutual trust.
During the talks, both sides reiterated their commitment to respecting each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, and the right to choose their own development paths.
Within the economic cooperation framework, the two sides discussed in depth issues such as implementing the target set by the heads of state to increase bilateral trade to USD 20 billion, expanding exports of mineral and agricultural products, accelerating infrastructure construction, enhancing port clearance capacity, deepening oil exploration and investment cooperation, broadening energy collaboration, and advancing projects supported by preferential loans and grants.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that China will adhere to the diplomatic philosophy of "friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness," and continue to develop good-neighborly relations. The leadership diplomacy between the two heads of state plays a crucial guiding role in the development of bilateral relations, and China is willing to actively implement the major consensus and cooperation achievements reached by the two heads of state.
He added that China is ready to further expand and deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, believes the target set by the two heads of state to raise bilateral trade to USD 20 billion will be achieved as soon as possible, and considers that more ambitious trade development goals should be established in the future to propel bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.
China also expressed its support for hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Ulaanbaatar this August. Additionally, given the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in some western provinces of Mongolia, China is willing to provide cooperation and support in vaccine supply.
The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern.
After the talks, the foreign ministers of both countries signed the "Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cooperation Program 2026–2027."
Subsequently, Mongolia's Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Batzorig and China's Minister of Foreign Affairs jointly briefed the media on the outcomes of the talks.
