Sergei Ivanov resigns from his position as a special representative of Putin
Sergei Ivanov, the special representative of the Russian President on environmental protection, ecology, and transportation affairs, has decided to leave voluntarily. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, revealed this information to Alexander Yunashiev of the Kremlin News Agency.
Peskov said: "The removal from the position was carried out by presidential decree according to Ivanov's personal wishes."
Yunashiev speculated that Ivanov will continue to serve in the Russian Federation Security Council.
Sergei Ivanov is 73 years old. He has previously served as Secretary of the Federal Security Service (1999-2000), Minister of Defense (2001-2007), First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Government (2007-2008), Deputy Prime Minister of the Government (2008-2011), and Head of the Presidential Administration (2011-2016). He was appointed as the special representative for environmental protection, ecology, and transportation affairs in 2016.
