Foreign media: China is advancing multiple projects to strengthen trade ties with Southeast Asia, including a major expansion of Brunei's largest port - Muara Port. The port is jointly operated by a Chinese state-owned enterprise and Brunei. After the expansion, its annual throughput capacity will double from the current level to 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), with a total investment of 2 billion yuan (about 278 million U.S. dollars), and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The strategic importance of Southeast Asia has increased, and China relies on export growth to this region to offset the impact of U.S. tariffs. Latest customs data shows that China's exports to ASEAN increased by 16.6% last month, while exports to the U.S. decreased by more than 20%. The United States has expressed concern about this and has recently pressured Southeast Asian countries to restrict the transshipment of Chinese-made goods.
