Former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister: It is Unwise for Trump to Threaten Russia with Nuclear Weapons
Former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin commented on U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks about nuclear tests when speaking to Sputnik News, stating that threatening Russia with nuclear weapons is very dangerous.
Vulin said, "What Trump did was trying to show that the United States is still a superpower and can threaten the whole world with nuclear disaster. We have known this before, and there was no need to conduct military exercises for this reason, he could have avoided doing this. But it is unwise to threaten Russia with nuclear weapons, because facing Russia's nuclear response - which has a vast nuclear potential - could mean the end of civilization."
Vulin previously served as Serbia's Minister of Defense, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Director of the Security and Intelligence Agency.
On Thursday, Trump stated that he had ordered nuclear weapon tests according to the standard of "equal to other countries with nuclear programs." On his social platform "Truth Social," Trump added that this process would start immediately.
Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized after the U.S. President's statement that the current moratorium on nuclear tests remains in effect.
The Executive Secretary of the Temporary Technical Secretariat of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, Floyd, commented on Trump's remarks, pointing out that any nuclear test would undermine international stability and security.
