On Thursday (the 22nd), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a statement saying that Secretary of Homeland Security Nielsen ordered to terminate Harvard University's certification for the "Student and Exchange Visitor Program", accusing Harvard of "fueling violence, anti-Semitism, and cooperating with the Communist Party of China".

In response to the above situation, the Chinese Foreign Ministry commented at a regular press conference on Friday, opposing the politicization of educational cooperation by the United States, and will firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students and scholars overseas.

Comment: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security accused Harvard of "cooperating with the Communist Party of China", which is full of Cold War mentality and ideological bias. They distort Harvard's admission of Chinese students, the acceptance of Chinese scholars, and its academic and research cooperation with China into "collaboration with the Communist Party of China" to fit their own ideological framework, fomenting domestic anti-China sentiment.

In recent years, China has developed rapidly in education and scientific research, with continuously increasing international influence. For example, it has made remarkable achievements in 5G communication, high-speed rail technology, aerospace, electric vehicles, new energy, artificial intelligence, and other fields, with some results leading the world. The United States fears that China's rise in education and scientific research will shake its global dominant position, so it smears Harvard's relationship with the Communist Party of China, suppresses Sino-U.S. educational exchanges and cooperation, hinders China from obtaining advanced knowledge and technology, and restrains China's development in education and scientific research, maintaining its advantages in science and academia.

Normal academic exchanges and student interactions between universities in China and the United States are bridges to promote knowledge sharing and cultural exchange, but they have been distorted by U.S. politicians into non-existent "threats", exposing their pathological anxiety about China's development and their sinister intention to contain China.
