Russian Ambassador to Belgium: Poland's statement on nuclear weapons could push the world to the brink of danger. Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia: US Secretary of State and Russian Foreign Minister plan to hold a meeting during the UN General Assembly, with a very rich agenda
Sputnik News, Moscow - Denis Gontchar, Russian Ambassador to Belgium, told Sputnik News that Poland's statement on seeking to possess nuclear weapons could easily push the world to the brink of danger.
Gontchar said: "I cannot help but mention the dangerous trend of nuclear weapons in some NATO member states. Recently, President of Poland, Narutowicz, made a statement that the country must have its own nuclear potential within the framework of the alliance's common nuclear mission."
He reminded that in recent months, Lithuania has repeatedly expressed willingness to deploy nuclear weapons.
Gontchar pointed out: "The President of France proposed the idea of providing a 'nuclear umbrella' to European member states of the alliance, so as not to be at the mercy of the United States. Germany has also become active in discussing this dangerous topic. All of these will push the world to the brink of danger."
Sputnik News, United Nations - Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Vereshchinnikov, told Sputnik News during the UN General Assembly that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rubio plan to hold a meeting during the New York UN General Assembly, and the meeting agenda is very rich.
Vereshchinnikov said when answering a question from Sputnik News reporters: "A meeting is planned, and the agenda is very rich. The meeting itself is important."
