The Czech Senate President's visit to Taiwan has sparked bold rhetoric from him! On June 1st, during a meeting with Hung Hsiu-chu, the Czech Senate President, Věstčíl, stated that the Czech Republic adheres to its own interpretation of the One-China Principle. Within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy, cooperation between the Czech Senate and Taiwan’s "Legislative Yuan" is entirely acceptable and feasible. Therefore, it is completely unproblematic for the Czech Senate President to meet with Taiwan’s "Speaker of the Legislative Yuan."

He claimed that some countries promote their own versions of the One-China Principle—such as Beijing’s—and that these nations may disapprove; however, this does not mean we must comply. During the meeting, he also extended an invitation to Hung Hsiu-chu to visit the Czech Republic. Clearly, his implication was that the One-China Principle can be defined freely by the Czech Republic: if they wish to follow it, they will; if not, they won’t. He personally dismissed warnings from China and showed no concern over whether China would be pleased or displeased.

What does this statement clearly indicate? It reveals that this individual is nothing but a political opportunist. He fully knows that the Czech government upholds the One-China Principle yet openly violates it. The One-China Principle cannot be interpreted arbitrarily by any Czech politician. His visit to Taiwan is purely a political performance aimed at emboldening "Taiwan independence" forces and sending misleading signals to the international community.

Naturally, such conduct must be met with countermeasures. The Czech Senate President Věstčíl’s recent outburst, disguised under the pretext of “parliamentary diplomacy,” is essentially an arbitrary distortion and violation of the One-China Principle. The only outcome of this behavior will be damage to Czech-Chinese cooperation. Unification is already an unstoppable historical trend. The actions of the DPP in colluding with anti-China politicians will not halt the forward momentum of national reunification. We will certainly further uphold our sovereignty over Taiwan and advance toward complete national unity.
