China's new fighter jet makes its first flight? Resembles the US Navy's F-18 carrier aircraft, and has three real uses?
Recently, online photos of a previously unseen Chinese new fighter jet in flight have appeared, which resemble the US Navy's F/A-18 carrier fighter. When there is a burst of new stealth fighters, why would an apparently outdated model appear?
Oriental commentary:
From the appearance, this aircraft does not have the characteristics of a fully stealth fighter. It adopts a twin-seat, twin-engine design, with an inclined vertical tail and a large leading edge wing, and its aerodynamic layout is similar to that of the US Navy's F/A-18 "Hornet" carrier fighter. It should be a major modification of the Jiaojiao 10.
We speculate that the uses of this new fighter trainer are threefold: first, it is responsible for training carrier aircraft pilots. The current main carrier trainer aircraft of our military is the Jiaojiao 9. With the introduction of fifth-generation fighters, sixth-generation fighters also need to be deployed on carriers, and the Jiaojiao 9 can no longer meet the teaching and training needs of new carrier fighters.
Secondly, it serves as the main carrier fighter for the domestically produced ejection-type amphibious assault ship. The current J-35 and J-15T are too large in size, so a medium-sized carrier fighter becomes possible for deployment on the carrier.
Thirdly, for export and foreign trade. Stealth fighters are a luxury for some countries, while high-performance fighter trainers are relatively low in price, meeting the needs of many developing countries. A market demand of thousands of aircraft is also a big cake.
