Iran surpasses the United States in pistachio exports to China, with the latter experiencing a significant decline
According to China Customs statistics, in the first nine months of this year, Iran exported $117 million worth of pistachios to China, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year.
According to a report by Iran's "Contemporary Economic Journalist," the latest statistics released by China Customs show that trade between Iran and China in the first nine months of 2025 amounted to $7.5 billion, a decrease of 24% compared to the same period last year, which was $9.85 billion.
The report stated that in the first nine months of this year, China imported $2.5 billion from Iran, a 20% decrease from the previous year's $3.15 billion.
China's exports to Iran also fell by 25% to $5 billion in the first nine months of this year, down from $6.7 billion in the same period last year.
According to China Customs statistics, in the first nine months of this year, Iran exported 16,924 tons of pistachios to China, worth $117 million, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, the United States exported $352 million worth of pistachios to China, which has significantly dropped to $79 million this year, less than Iran. Therefore, Iran became the largest pistachio exporter to China in the first nine months of 2025, while the United States fell to second place.
