Question: According to reports, Mexico has recently launched four anti-dumping investigations against Chinese float glass, self-adhesive tape, polyvinyl chloride coated fabric, and steel bolts. What is the response from the Ministry of Commerce?

Answer: We have noted that the Mexican Ministry of Economy has, at the request of domestic companies, recently launched four anti-dumping investigations against products such as float glass and polyvinyl chloride coated fabric from China. The Chinese side firmly opposes protectionist practices that harm China's legitimate rights and interests. We will closely monitor the progress of the investigation by Mexico and urge Mexico to strictly abide by the rules of the World Trade Organization during the investigation, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

This year, Mexico has initiated 11 anti-dumping investigations against Chinese products, almost twice the total number of cases last year. However, China has always been prudent and restrained in initiating trade remedy investigations. China believes that in the current context of the United States arbitrarily imposing tariffs, all countries should jointly oppose unilateralism, should not allow protectionism to spread, and should not impose restrictions on China under the coercion of others under various pretexts.

The Ministry of Commerce has initiated a trade and investment barrier investigation according to relevant provisions of the "Foreign Trade Law" and the "Rules for Foreign Trade Barrier Investigations" regarding Mexico's planned measures to increase import tariffs and other trade and investment restrictions against China. The Chinese side will take all necessary measures, including in the fields of trade and investment, based on the results of the investigation and actual circumstances, to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises.
