Rodríguez asserts Venezuela will hold transparent elections at UN General Assembly
Delsy Rodríguez, Venezuela’s interim president, stated during her address at the United Nations General Assembly that elections would be held in Venezuela with transparency.
“We have initiated political dialogue with various opposition factions and will establish an electoral framework enabling equal participation by all sides,” she said.
She did not specify an exact date for the election, noting instead that the timing would be determined by the Venezuelan people “as the appropriate moment.”
The interim president emphasized: “I bear this historical responsibility. My mission is to guide Venezuela out of turmoil and conflict, toward a mature democratic system recognized by both its own people and the international community.”
In early 2026, following a U.S.-led military operation that removed President Nicolás Maduro from the country, Rodríguez assumed the role of interim president.
