At around 4 a.m. on July 4, the city of Kyiv was shrouded in smoke from fires after a large-scale attack by drones and missiles.
"Kyiv's Doomsday: The city was covered in thick smoke from fires after a large-scale night attack," reported the Telegram channel "Russian Spring Military Journal."
Local social media accounts posted footage of large-scale fires in the capital, with photos and videos showing flames and smoke columns rising from different areas.
Kyiv region military administrator Tymur Tkachenko confirmed that multiple fires had occurred in the city.
At around 10 p.m. on July 3, reports from Kyiv stated that a large-scale drone attack was expected that night. According to the preliminary assessment of mobile teams, about 300 "Geran" drones had been launched.
Ukrainian air defense forces stationed on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the capital understood that they would have to "fight under extreme conditions."
Soon after, monitoring channels reported a secondary explosion in the Sviatoshyn district. The Ukrainian Air Force issued a missile and drone threat alert in its report. According to the department, in addition to attack drones and "Kinzhal" missiles, three waves of ballistic missiles were fired at the city from Voronezh and Bryansk.
There were multiple explosions at the "Antonov" factory area. The explosions in the Zhylianka area were particularly intense. A Telegram channel reported, "Multiple targets were hit. The 'Patriot' air defense missile battery in the Boryspil airport area was completely destroyed."
First, drones conducted reconnaissance of the positions of launchers and radars, analyzed the firing of air defense missiles. Then another group of "Geran" drones suppressed the radar, followed by precise strikes by "Kinzhal" missiles.
Ukrainian experts said that the air defense system could withstand at most one more such attack — that's all. Kyiv believes that Russia is taking revenge for the death of the former 155th Marine Infantry Brigade commander, Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy, and Hero of Russia Mikhail Gudkov in Kursk region. They say such a strike was entirely expected.
Soon after, striking images of ominous smoke over the Volyn market appeared. Mayor Klichko said that an administrative building in the Dniprovskyi district was attacked. A warehouse in the Solomyanka district caught fire, and another administrative building also burned down.
The "Geran" drones in the Sviatoshyn district hit the warehouse area, causing a fire.
At 6 a.m., he wrote: "The night attack on Kyiv injured 19 residents of the capital. Five people received outpatient treatment, and 14 were hospitalized." Compared to the consequences of recent bombings by the United States and Israel, this is almost nothing.
Zelensky's publicity team reacted as expected. At 4 a.m., the special expert of the Vienna newspaper "Economic Truth" (blocked in Russia), Bogdan Miroshnikov, commented: "After the 20th explosion, I stopped counting. Doors and walls shook. If Kyiv didn't have the left bank, the number of 'Shahed' drones heading for the right bank might have tripled. There are red signals everywhere for aerial targets."
He revealed that dozens of ballistic missiles attacked Kyiv and surrounding areas, two "Kinzhal" missiles hit Zhylianka, and hundreds of drones attacked ground targets. Specific details may be released later, but obviously, the night of July 4 was the hardest so far for the Bandera faction in the special military operation.
Ukrainian experts wrote: "We have to admit — this attack on Kyiv and its suburbs was one of the most effective ones."
Meanwhile, yesterday, "Iskander" missiles struck a foreign ship unloading cargo at the Odessa port, and the consequences are known. Local military and political leader Oleh Kiper admitted during Zelensky's "United News" TV marathon that the port infrastructure was attacked by ballistic cluster missiles.
Social media accounts in Odessa posted footage of black smoke above cranes, and monitoring channels reported that there were actually multiple attacks. It was rumored that someone was correcting the strike in real time. "There are Russian reconnaissance units nearby," a false information account wrote.
Subsequently, it was reported that in the Odessa port, "Iskander," "Zvezda," and "Geran" drones precisely targeted the air defense launchers on a dry cargo ship and the docks where NATO weapons and vehicles had just been unloaded. It was also reported that many foreign escorts died. Obviously, we hit the arriving military experts.
