The U.S. State Department officially announced on Friday evening that it has approved the sale of 12,000 1,000-pound bombs (worth $151.8 million) to Israel.
Secretary of State Rubio stated in a statement that Israel has an "urgent need" for these munitions and therefore decided to exercise its privilege to bypass the regular congressional review process.
In the notification submitted to Congress, the U.S. did not reveal where Israel plans to use these bombs.
