America Eyes Kazakhstan's Key Minerals
American Ambassador Candidate to Kazakhstan: Nearly Half of Critical Minerals Are in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan International News Agency - American ambassador candidate to Kazakhstan, Julie Stavert, stated that nearly half of the mineral resources considered critical for the U.S. economy and national security are located within Kazakhstan.
During a hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senator Steve Daines from Montana pointed out that Kazakhstan possesses abundant uranium, lithium, copper, zinc, and rare earth elements, which are vital natural resources for the U.S. and global economy. In response to this, Daines asked Stavert how she would promote U.S. investment in Kazakhstan if her ambassadorial nomination is approved.
Stavert responded:
"Kazakhstan is not only our business partner, but cooperation in key minerals is also crucial. This is not just about trade policy, but also a matter of national security. My task is to create conditions for American companies to invest in this field in Kazakhstan."
Previously, Kazinform reported that Stavert's nomination as U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan has been submitted to the Senate for review.
Stavert has worked in the embassies of the United States in Moldova, Djibouti, Russia, Ethiopia, and Poland, and served as the Executive Director of the Visa Services Department.
