Source: Ukraine hits the "Admiral Essen" frigate, which is now unable to launch "Kalibr" missiles

On March 5, TASS reported that on the night of March 2, the Ukrainian Security Service and the Ukrainian military jointly hit the Russian "Admiral Essen" frigate during an attack on Novorossiysk port — this frigate can carry 8 "Kalibr" cruise missiles. The strike hit the middle part of the ship's superstructure.

According to TASS from sources in the intelligence department:

- The ship's thermal flares/countermeasure launcher was detonated;

- The TK-25 electronic warfare system was damaged;

- The ship's air defense missile fire control radar ZR-90 was hit;

- The main search radar "Sovremennik-M2M" was most likely damaged;

The source said that Ukraine broke through the tightly layered air defense system in Novorossiysk Bay. The fire on board lasted for about 18 hours, indicating serious internal damage and difficulty in damage control.

The ship has been severely damaged and is no longer able to use "Kalibr" missiles to attack Ukrainian territory.

Damage caused to other Russian warships due to the Novorossiysk attack

- The minesweeper "Vasily Pikul" was hit;

- The anti-submarine ships "Yekaterinburg" and "Kasimov" were seriously damaged;

- The S-300 guidance radar 30N6E2 was destroyed;

- The "Altair-S2" air defense system was destroyed;

- Six oil tanks at the Sheshkharys oil terminal were hit, and the fire burned all night.
