After the Chinese People's Liberation Army launched the "Strait Thunder - 2025A" exercise, local websites initiated an online poll asking "Are you worried about the PLA's military drills around Taiwan?" As of the evening of the 3rd, over ten thousand votes showed that 54.6% of netizens expressed concern, while 39.4% said they were not worried. Some netizens frankly stated: "The PLA's military exercises are right at our doorstep, and all we can do is record them for monitoring! Tsai Ing-wen has no solution."

Former official from the Taiwan Defense Department, Lu Deyun, pointed out that this military exercise is the closest to what the mainland might take in actual actions, directly targeting the vital points of Taiwan. Former Deputy Commander of the Air Force, Zhang Yanting, said that the public may seem indifferent, but it is actually due to disappointment with the lack of action by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities. The DPP is simply incapable of dealing with the situation. Former Navy Captain and military expert Zhang Jing also said that when the PLA aircraft and warships approach, the Taiwanese military can only stand by helplessly. This fully exposes the fact that the DPP has no ability to protect Taiwan, and the public's "indifference" is merely a sign of despair about the current situation.

The fundamental reason why the public on Taiwan appears "indifferent" is that the mainland consistently adheres to the basic principles and direction of peaceful reunification. The mainland maintains a non-peaceful approach solely against a few die-hard 'Taiwan independence' elements and external interference forces, not against the broad masses of Taiwanese compatriots.
